Key Features of LocalViewNI
The following are the key functional features of LocalViewNI:
- Pan and Zoom
An easy to use tool for quick map navigation.
- Gazetteer Search
The user enters an address or postcode and then views that location on a map. Our gazetteer uses Pointer, Northern Ireland’s common address file out of the box but can use, similar address datasets should that be a requirement..
- My Neighborhood
The user views neighborhood information based on a given location, such as address details, administrative boundaries and local information.
- Where’s My Nearest?
The user enters an address or selects a point on the map to view the locations of local services, such as libraries, doctors and hospitals.
- Transaction-based Fault Reporting
A member of the public enters an address or selects a point on the map and can then report a problem, such as a faulty street light, faulty traffic signal or abandoned vehicle.
- Text or Map Option
Information can be viewed as text or on a map. This flexibility of information delivery helps your council meet the Disability Discrimination Act accessibility requirements.
- Optional Location-based Datasets
A wide range of ready-made, location-based datasets from commercial data suppliers can be made available as an optional part of the overall implementation package.
- Re-use of Existing Datasets
LocalViewNI will work with any existing Council datasets such as council leisure facilities and libraries and background mapping such as that provided by Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland, as well as any others such as the locations of local amenities and services.
- Centralised and Hosted
LocalViewNI is fully centralised and is hosted therefore there is minimum impact to your existing Council ICT infrastructure and environment. Your customised LocalViewNI application is made available via a URL which is then embedded within the Councils existing website. There is minimal overhead in managing and maintaining Council data as this forms part of the LocalViewNI hosted service and there is no requirement for additional software licenses or additional hardware.
